The City of Washington is the governmental seat for Washington County which was formed in 1781 and named after the nation's first President.  The City of Washington is historically rich and with the new Economic Development Project, building towards the future.  The City is home to many attractions including The LeMoyne House and Bradford House.

The goal of the Washington Business District Authority "Main Street" Program is to preserve, improve, promote and enhance the downtown business district following the four main principles of organization, design, promotion, and economic restructuring. The WBDA "Main Street" will work to move Washington into the 21st century, while retaining our historic character and yet complimenting regional economic development efforts.
