Washington Economic Development Project
Capital Improvements and Service
Plan
The Vision
- A unique business district that welcomes people and provides
a safe, vibrant and exciting place that is the heart and soul
of Washington.
- Capital Improvements: New pedestrian sidewalks with brick accent,
ornamental decorative street lights, landscaping and street trees,
people spaces throughout the downtown, and new infrastructure
to create a uniquely attractive and charming central business
district for the economic well-being of the entire city.
- Special Services District: A regular services program of maintenance,
security, promotion and marketing to showcase the central business
district for local and tourist patronage.
- The Capital Improvements and Special Services District serve
as the keystone for the redevelopment of the central business
district. They bring together the leadership and resources of
area property owners and businesses and the City of Washington
to address mutual concerns and to carry out projects that benefit
the entire community.
